Dr. Nisara Bandali practices full-scope optometry, providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. She attended the New England College of Optometry (NECO) in Boston, where she graduated with honours and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor of Medical Science in Medical Cell Biology at the University of Western Ontario.
She has experience in a variety of clinical settings, including the New England Eye Institute, Tufts Medical Centre, Cotting School for Special Needs Children, and Mobile Eye Clinics. She has also practiced in Brampton, downtown Toronto, and Orangeville, and currently practices in North York. Dr. Bandali contributes to vision and eye health podcasts and is a speaker for the Opticians Association, educating on topics related to ocular health. She has also served as a practice advisor with the College of Optometrists and was recently interviewed by Global News about children’s eye exams and eye care.
Dr. Bandali is passionate about expanding access to eye care and teaches optometry internationally in developing countries to support smaller villages, work she considers a true privilege. She currently teaches both remotely and in person at Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Kenya, helping train the next generation of eye care professionals.
Her clinical interests include comprehensive primary care, medical optometry, urgent eye care, dry eye management, and myopia control. She also enjoys complex scleral contact lens fittings for patients with advanced ocular surface disease.
Committed to community outreach, Dr. Bandali participates in vision screening programs for children in underserved communities and volunteers at events such as the Special Olympics.
In her spare time, she enjoys arts and crafts, playing and watching sports, travelling, exploring new cuisines, and spending time with family.
