Dr. Stevens was raised in the North York area and graduated on the Dean’s Honour List from the University of Waterloo, earning both an Honours Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2004. She furthered her clinical training through an internship with a Toronto-based ophthalmologist, where she gained comprehensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. Dr. Stevens is licensed to prescribe therapeutic pharmaceutical agents for the treatment of eye conditions.
Dr. Stevens has a strong clinical interest in dry eye management and myopia control, and she is committed to staying at the forefront of evolving treatment technologies in these areas. She has also developed a particular interest in ocular conditions associated with hormonal changes, including those related to menopause, and is dedicated to helping patients navigate these often under-recognized aspects of eye health. In addition, she has a passion for low vision care. In her previous role as a staff optometrist with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind in Barrie, she provided comprehensive low vision assessments and developed individualized rehabilitation plans, including the prescription of specialized visual aids to enhance patients’ quality of life.
Dr. Stevens takes a holistic approach to patient care, recognizing the connection between overall health and ocular health. She is committed to understanding each patient as a whole and tailoring treatment plans that address underlying factors while improving visual function and overall quality of life.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Stevens is a Clinical Associate with the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science, where she mentors and supervises optometry students within her practice. She is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and participates in the Women of Optometry initiative, supporting professional development and leadership within the field.
Dr. Stevens is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of patient-centred care and is committed to making a meaningful impact on the vision health of her community.
Outside of her professional life, she is married with two children and enjoys sports, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
